Construction of this web site began on 3/13/12, the day after a city council meeting where 80% of the public speakers were from out of town. The out of town lobbyist were flooding our council with disinformation promoting their narrow agendas that are arguably outside the scope of our city government. By directing city tax dollars toward those causes, our City Council is squandering our limited resources. This site is intended to grow into a forum for actual city residents to discuss real issues that are related to Carpinteria, not national or state wide issues that are handled by other levels of government or government agencies. Carpinteria residents don't want out of town lobbyist steering our city council or consuming our resources to promote their agenda.
The most important piece will be the discussion forum. We don't have the forum configured yet, but hope to in a couple of weeks.
